The more people want.. the more they have to pay. That's how I understand it. And also I understand that the new rune traders "run out" of the runes so badly wanted. This means that there are some runes that are gonna be well sought after. I've yet to see a decent swordmanship there.
The demand rate is exploited as well. Many play the market of buying and then reselling. Trouble is, they did it so much that the cheap and expensive times and now backwards lmao.

Basically the traders stock is dependant on however many are sold to her. If 10 players sell 40 runes to her, she has 40 runes, if 3 players buy 20 runes off her she has 20 more to sell.
The amount she pays for runes as well as the amount she sells them for is based on how many she has in stock at the time.

So runes are not the same as dye? Cos i was under the impression, the more people who bought a certain colour dye, the more expensive it became.
And that about the runes.. that means hardly any good ones are gonna be for sale anyway lol. I'm betting it's full of Mesmer runes

Not sure actually, i've never seen the dye trader run out of dye before, I HAVE seen specific runes run out of stock, heck I watched that happen, restock and run out again all in a span of about 15 mins.
Based only on what i've seen, her stock is what determins her price, thats why black dye always costs so much, its so rare, that she doesnt really ever have too many. I would assume it works similarly with the runes, sigels, materials....just about any other trader in game really.
EDIT:: If im incorrect in this please feel free to speak up, im only going off of observation here.

Well, hardly anyone sells silver dye to the dye trader, but I have seen her prices go from in the 300's to in the 900's. What does that tell us?
P.s. sorry if this post is a waste of space... story of my life

aye but silvers a little more common, using my character as an example, in the months worth of gaming i've had, i've found maybe 10 silvers and only 3 blacks. I would think the traders stock would reflect a simiar ratio.

I have. She's run out of black dye before, but that's it (to my knowledge)
I have noticed this though; if I sell a large mass of materials to the trader, unless the price is "rock bottom", it will go down after I sell several. I assume the same applies to all traders. I can also assume that the inverse is true; if I buy several stacks of materials, the price will go up
And I am also fairly sure that all trader prices are universal to all traders in every city and every district...

So she's run out of black before but none of the other colors, black is the rarest drop...I know she pays a decent sum for black dye because I sold all three of my black drops to her (it was easier then standing around for an hour or so trying to sell it in the trade channel and the price she paid wasnt too bad)
Maybe I am going out on a limb by saying that her prices are stock based, and her stock is based on what is sold to her, but those are my observations. I'm more then willing to stand corrected though if someone else has a diffrent view?
EDIT:: based on mandar's edit i belive this to be true though, since her stock can obviously come from any and all districts. it just requires a willing seller.
